I just finished re-reading a blog post about The Manipulator, Jill Greenberg, when I went downstairs and immediately knew the latest copy of The Sunday Times Magazine had a new image of hers’, adorning the cover.
The Photo Editor blog post suggests she is now blackballed (granted, that post is a couple of years old) due to her McCain hijinks. But here she is, doing the classic Greenberg style photo. I have nothing political to add to what she did, I was just amazed how she really has a style of her own. Possibly more identifiable than anyone, on first glance.
I started looking at her portfolio after seeing the Gwen Stefani photo, and then the crying babies. I don’t think I would use as blatant a lighting scheme as her, but I completely respect her ability to stand out. You do see a number of unfortunate Knock-Off Nigels, but that’s to be expected from a photographer of her caliber.
Anyway, I don’t have much to say - except that I plan on featuring a lot more of other photographers - and artists - who I appreciate and find some form of inspiration in.
